Wow, Pride Day again. Last year I missed it due to my overwhelming belly. This year I was excited to take Addie with me! I spent a little bit of time the night before making her her first rainbow onsie.
Shirley invited Shanda and I up for mimosa at’s her friend Lisa’s house. Addie cried THE WHOLE TIME. It was a rough start, but once we took her outside and she found some “ba”’s to look at, she was fine.
We packed her up in the stroller, wrapped her up in blankets and off we went. Did I mention the rain?? Ya, lots of it. It was windy and cold too, but that was not gonna keep me and my girlfriend (yep that’s right, Shanda and I were apparently a couple that day, sorry Jess) away. We trekked down to the parade route and took shelter under the entryway to a building.
What fun! I wish I could show you, but I left my camera in the car. (Hey when you have got a screaming baby, cameras are the last thing on your mind). I am hoping to snag some from friends and post them later.
The rain let up every now and again and we would venture out from under our cement shelter and wave to all the people in the parade. Addie finally passed out and took a long nap. Yay, no more tears.
I have to say I was disappointed in the turnout this year. I think the rain deterred people from coming out.
But for those who did come out it was quite the show. We saw Queens and Kings, Clowns and Hoopers. Rory, Matty and Kathy all shouted loud and proud for Hotel Monaco. Tony floated for Club Bliss (I think), Chelsea was her fantastic Hooping self (and oh so skinny, way to go Chels!) Celeste walked with the ROTC (Rightously Outrageous Twirling Corp). I was so proud to see all my friends out supporting the gay community!

I love, love, love that onesie! Cannot wait to make something like that for the boys. I miss Utah Pride. The grassroots feel just isn’t the same down here.
