This morning I was looking at a calendar. Something I do everyday, multiple times everyday. But for some reason today, I looked a little closer and got to thinking,

“How can Addie be 14 weeks old? I posted a blog about months/vs weeks 2 weeks ago, but things just aren’t adding up. Addie can’t be 14 weeks…she just can’t be.”

So, I pull out the calendar again and start counting.
Born: June 11th
Week 1: June 18th
Week 2: June 25th….

Week 12: September 3 CRAP!
Addie is actually 15 weeks old right now.

I am sure some people knew this and just smiled sheepishly when I act the fool and don’t know my daughters own age. Sheesh, I mean she has only been here for 15 weeks and I know I can count to 15, right? 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14…26? Hmm, OK well I guess that explains it.

I am not one of those moms looking at a baby book to see what she should be doing for her age. She grows as she wants and really all I can do is encourage what she wants to do and not what the books say she should be doing. After all, She is my daughter and stubborn as all Hell!

So the good thing, Addie will be 16 weeks old next Wednesday which means she is almost 4 months, no, wait… she will be 4 months on October 11 which is actually 17.5 weeks… Oh, I am so not getting into that again!

Addie loves soft things. She has a purple hippo my dad bought her in the first week of life and she has loved it ever since she could touch it on her own. It is her “woobie”. She naps with it plays with it, licks it, chews it you name it! That hippo gets more baths than she does.

She also has a Pooh Bear my dad got her before she was born. It was her first stuffed animal. She like this one too, but we don’t let her play with it as much as it has a rattle inside that wakes her from a nap if she decides to “run real fast” in her sleep or conduct an orchestra in her dreams.

The other day we gave her Purple Hippo to settle her fussiness. It worked for a while. Then we gave her a binkie when she started to fuss again. It worked for a little while longer. When she fussed again about 2 minutes later. We gave her Pooh. She was alseep in less than one minute with a death grip on both, just going to town on the Binkie.

Kaitee joins the masses

A very good Friend of mine is getting married today. Don’t worry, it’s a good thing. Her soon-to-be Hubby Chris is an ex-Air Force-somethingerother. He is about a foot shorter than her, but I’ll forgive him for that. :)

Last Saturday was Kaitee’s Bachelorette party.

It was at Maggie McGees in Salt Lake City. I have been there before to watch football games and play pool, but never for a bachelorette party and never for Karaoke. In fact prior to this and in my bathroom shower, I had never karaoke’d before.
You should know, I cannot sing. I pretend to, but unless I am singing in my car with the radio up loud enough to drown me out, or in the shower where the acoustics work the same way as the magic mirrors in department store dressing rooms…I don’t sound so hot. But in the spirit of the party, I got up and did my thing. First Shelly F. and I sang Before he Cheats by Carrie Underwood. That was the only song we submitted to the DJ, however, since we were a group of girls with Sassy Name tags and naughty balloons.

He kept calling us up. The second go round I sang Marilyn Monroes Diamonds are a Girls Best Friends. I did it all by myself and it was so fun. I had no idea. The best part is, in no way shape or form was I drunk. Ta-Freakin-Da!

Cranberries

A young girl at my mom’s school was telling my mom (Mrs. Bobbi) about her mom who is a nurse…

Mrs. Bobbi: “Where is your mom today?”

Girl (in a very matter of fact way): “She is at Cranberry Children’s Hospital.”

Mrs. Bobbi: “Oh? I hear that is a good hospital, I have a friend that worked at Primary Children’s Hospital, do you think maybe your mom is there?”

Girl: “No, she only goes to Cranberry Children’s Hospital.”

Mrs. Bobbi: “Oh… well that’s good.”

Three Months and Happy as a Clam!

I have never met a happy clam, in fact most clams are defiant and refuse to open even when I talk or sing to them. So, to say Addie is as happy as a clam seems wrong.

Regardless, (no not irregarless, because that is not a word) Addie is 3 months old today. Wow! We made it. According to websites/other parents today is some magical mystery day that everything gets better. Her colic goes away, she sleeps through the night, she becomes some sort of Goddess and solves world peace and hunger issues….

So 12 weeks, and/or 3 months. I discourage the use of weeks and months at the same time. When someone says 12 weeks, you automatically think “hmm, 3 months.” But, in Baby World you are sooooo wrong. You see, I have figured it out. Parents measure their childs worth in weeks. The more weeks, the less they hate said child. (thats just the way it goes, the older a baby the longer they sleep at night and the more the parents sleep, thus less hate).

So when a child is three months old (today) she may actually be 12 weeks and one day, or 12 weeks and 3 days, or if it is around March and not a leapyear, she could be 11 weeks and 27 days… ya just never know. some parents take real offense when you say a child is 3 months and indeed her child is not! Her child is 12 weeks and 2 days and don’t you forget it!

Adeline is 3 months, today. So tomorrow she will be 12 weeks and 2 days or 3 months and 1 day. In my eyes, she is just… 3 months, and she will be until she turns 13 weeks old. Then I will proceed to tell people she is 13 weeks, then 14 then 15 then 15 1/2 then she will be back to 4 months old… but how many weeks and days will it actually be???

Le Chien Blog part Deux

So they say all is well that ends well, so I guess all is well.

The insurance will cover Dave’s medical bills, and the other dogs vet bills, and Chopper is fine. He is well on his way to becoming an outside/garage dog… but he is fine.

We, ok well I, have tried to go over an apologize to the neighbors. But they never answer. So either I miss them, or they just don’t answer the door. Lights are usually on and cars are home, so maybe they are just jerks and don’t want to look at us…it’s not like we want to tell them where to stick it or anything, I, want to apologize. Dave said they aren’t mad… but I am now doubting that.

Animal Control came out and put Chopper on a raibes watch for the next 9 days. So that means no walks, no playing with other people of other dogs, he is to be under our direct supervision or kenneled at all times. So, ya know, business as usual.

The Dog Blog

This week has been increasingly difficult. Yesterday Chopper bit the neighbors dog. We ar enot sure who’s fault it was, as they have played nice together before, but something just didn’t click yesterday between the two of them and they fought. Chopper got the best of the other dog and ended up sending him to the Vet’s office.

The neighbors were very cooperative at first… we offered to pay for half and they agreed saying it would help. When the check was taken over to them, they changed their story saying it was not enough and we had to pay the while bill. This is going to be tough for us since Jess is out of work at the moment. The worst part about it is they weren’t nice the second time around. Mean people suck. They did a complete 180 on us. Hopefully the renters insurance will cover it, but I won’t know that until tomorrow. Regardless, we will pay the bill. We will be the bigger person.

It is just so odd, they have played before, what makes a dog tick? What makes a dog go from happy sniff your butt to I WILL KILL YOU! and what makes neighbors go from hey no biggie dogs will be dogs to I WILL SUE YOU!
