Another Appointment

Yesterday was my week 34/35 Doctors Appointment, I am happy to announce I now hold the following stats to my name:

85% Effaced
1 cm Dialated
Position -2

So, if that means anything to anyone, there ya have it. If it doesn’t mean anything to you, you are not alone. To me all it means is someday sooner than later I am going to have a baby. (The doc is guessing about 3-4 weeks, which still puts us in line for Fathers Day).

I spoke to him about all the pain and trouble I have been having, and to make a long medical-ee explanation short… the last month of pregnancy just sucks and I have to deal with it.

DAMN!

I really wanted to go in and hear him say, “Wow, this baby is amazing, she is growing so fast and things are progressing so well, I think she will be here in a week.” Hmm, no such luck.

However, he said in 2 weeks (May 28th) he will start “helping me along”. To those of you who had had children and know medical-ee stuff, he will be stripping my membranes to get her out. He thinks she will be fully developed at 37 weeks, and feels no need to have her go much beyond that! HOORAY!

So there is the most up-to-date mommy-to-be announcement.

Baby Shower #1

Whew! This last week has been crazy busy.. I have a lot to post about the Baby Shower that Steph, Ali and Melissa threw for me, but I wanted to be sure to get something up about it just in case I get REALLY busy and don’t have time to post more…

So here are some pics. It was a GORGEOUS day. My good friend Crystal at Studio Salon (by Nikko) did my hair and I must say, it looked wonderful. Steph made plenty of food and Melissa manned the “onsie decorating” station. Which was a HUGE hit, people have starting taking about how they wished more baby showers were done like mine… Hmmm, maybe I smell a new business venture? I mean they have wedding planners, why not baby shower planners?? Come on, it could work… maybe some people would rather just hire someone to do it, (It could happen)
Ok, ok, so like it said it went perfect! So here are the pics, they are all a little “blue-ish” for some reason, but I am sure we can fix that in photoshop :)

Onsie Decorating (Rory, Mike & Matty)

Kati’s too cute for words kids made an adorable onsie!

(Melissa, is in the Denim Jacket… she is the brains behind the fun!)

There were people EVERYWHERE!

Even Jess had a good time!

I hope to be able to blog more later about the actual details, and who came etc. But hopefully this will do for now. Again a big thanks to everyone that came out, and especially to Steph, Ali and Melissa!

Quasimoto

There are times when I feel like Quasimoto: (before he goes down into the village)I walk with a limp and slightly hunched over at times. I am unaware of just how much space I take up and how oblivious I am to the world outside of my own. I am wrapped up in the “pregnant bubble” and not aware of what people may or may not be saying. Everyone assures me that people are probably saying. “Oh look at her, she looks ready to pop!” or “oh that poor girl…” But there is a small part of me that knows that my twin is out there saying, “Wow, she looks terrible, look at those swollen ankles and knees. He hair is so disheveled. What was she thinking when she put that on?” But, I also know I would have been saying “Well she’s pregnant, so it’s ok.”

Now, the nice person inside of me, realizes I should take this opportunity to be on the other side of the spectrum and remember how I feel, and use that in the future to become a better person. The problem is… being a “bitch”, or as my good friend Crystal puts it, “straighforward” “outspoken” is to much fun. I realize I do not always look my best. I realize some days my shoes don’t match my purse and I forgot a necklace, or there is a stain on my shirt. Everyone deserves days when they just don’t look “up to par”. I have to stop and ask myself, the women and men I criticize, did I catch them on that day? or do they just dress like that all the time?

Fortunately, I am, surrounded by women who know how to dress and dress appropriately for the situation. There will always be that stranger that I point out to Jess or he points out to me, and we just laugh. “Oh! that is NOT OK” He says to me. I giggle and agree, and we go on with life.

34 Weeks & Mothers Day

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she’s born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Today was Mothers Day =) What a day, I woke up slowly and snuggled with Jess for a while, after which he surprised me with the Sweeny Todd Collectors Edition. (woot! Can’t get enough Johnny!) Then we went to Ikea to FINALLY get the Drawers for my mom, and met her at the Bowling Alley. Jess Bowled a 124, the highest of anyone playing…in that game. I sat on the sidelines and acted as a novelty as our little “bundle of joy” proceeded to kick me to tears. However, Mom and Tony both got to feel her move and that made it worth it.

We then went to Mi Casita for a Mexican Mothers Day brunch. You know the food is good when you and two other tables are the only “white folk” in the place. The owner even came over and warned us the buffet was “very authentic” and if we didn’t like it we could order from the menu and he wouldn’t charge us for what we took from the buffet. Nice guy.

We all overate, Jess went back home (he had a tooth pulled last Friday and was not felling well) My mom and Grandma went to see What happens in Vegas a new Camren Diaz/Ashton Kutcher movie. It was really cute.

Did I mention why my Grandmother is in town? She came up for the baby shower… it was a total shock and surprise. Here is proof:

Yep that’s a good pic, the others I am making such silly faces because I am crying so much. I’ll think about uploading them later. It was a great surprise and a great gift! They had apparently been planning it for over a month. Way to go keeping a secret Mom! The baby Shower was a huge success and everyone had a wonderful time. A great big thanks and kisses out to Stephanie for opening her home to so many people and to Ali and Melissa for doing such a great job planning everything, thanks to Victoria as well for video taping.

I will upload pics and videos soon, but that will be quite a project. =)

Woot! Magic 8 Ball

Yesterday I took my math Final, Hooray! I am so done with that class. Usually my classes are 5 weeks each, but Math 208 and Math 209 are a joined class and so it is a 10 week class. We covered 4 regular college classes in 10 weeks… a little overwhelming? Yes. glad it’s over? You bet!
To celebrate Jess and I went to the Training Table for some burgers and fries (this as I daily bitch about how I have gained 45 pounds during this pregnancy). Oh well, it was a celebration. Jess and I are both done with school… for now.
We sat eating our cheese fries and discovered a new use for my belly, it is a Magic 8 Ball! You rub and shake the “Magic 8 Ball” and if she kicks on the right side, the answer is yes, if she kicks on the left, no, and if no kick at all… ask again later, the answer is unclear.

YAY! Fun with Tummies!

33 Weeks

How your baby’s growing:
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. She’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

32 1/2 weeks and a Dr. Appointment

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You’re gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she’ll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.
Today at my doctors appointment, I got some interesting news. I am 75% effaced. He thinks she will be coming the first week of June! I am still really trying to not get my hopes up in the event she stays in until the 22nd… or later.
